Are you ever disappointed with God?

This Sunday I'm filling in for the preacher at a church on Sunday morning. The title of my message is Trusting God In Spite of Disappointment. I think it's a pretty good message.

What do you do when God disappoints you? What do you think? How do you feel?

20 years of dreams, visions, plans, etc. that never seemed to materialize that have now left me without any dreams/not wanting to dream -- I know God is still God though and I keep looking for ways to simply walk with Him in the "ordinariness" of life.

I don't so much think it is God who has disappointed me, but rather my misplaced expectations of what I think God ought (or ought not) to do.

I agree with tp6795(?) that I know it's not God who actually disappoints but instead it's the disappointed expectation I've set myself up for.
I have to trust that there really is some purpose in everything that happens and that every situation provides a new encounter and experience with God and how to cope, learn, and flourish while here. Sounds good huh, wish it was easier to do!
