Click on this link and listen to this report from Iraq. I heard this on NPR this week and it has stuck with me. I'm not interested in the war aspect of the story but the religeous. How can folks follow the laws and dictates of a religeous leader when more and more repressive and oppressive proclamations come out? I cannot believe that anywhere in the Koran does it say you must avert your eyes from a goats behind or be condemned, and then murder the shephard. Or you must arrange vegetables in a certain way that do not suggest ...something. And that people will take up arms and murder those who "tempt" you with these displays is even more outrageous.
I'm not looking to point a discussion a certain direction, just to get your opinions on this.

i think it's difficult for me since i get so ridiculously angry at some of the things going on in christian churches today. sometimes it's good to take a step out and see that at least we're not dying...at least not physically. it's also hard for me to believe that we're all serving the same God. we've discussed it many times-that perhaps "God is love" and if we're loving our neighbor and God then we're being true "christians". i want to believe that just because you're born in the middle east doesn't mean you go to hell since you were dealt the wrong religous cards. i want to believe that anyone can find the pathway to jesus and therefore to God: love.
its almost silly to compare churches out here who convince their congregants that it isn't okay to date with these religious fanatics killing people over "goat panties and naughty veggies". the world's a big place...and suddenly i feel much smaller. good article jn.
